AeroFarms Vertical Farm

Intended to retrofit and repurpose an existing warehouse unit into the world’s largest Research and Development facility for vertical farming, which aims to advance sustainable and to bring cutting-edge research to the capital to improve food security and innovation in agriculture.

In-line with the priorities for the UAE as per the Abu Dhabi government as they have earmarked Dh1billion ($272m) for the agricultural technology incentive program and it’s Ghadan 21 accelerator initiative.

The warehouse unit will be retrofitted with structural elements, partitions, ceilings, and upgrade of MEP systems (including firefighting and ELV systems such BMS & CCTV) to provide new rooms within for Aerofarms’ operation. The R&D center will have high-tech laboratories for research and growing methods for lettuces, tomatoes and berries, and conducting advanced speed breeding, as well as robotics and automation research aimed at increasing food yields and reducing the resources needed to grow produce.
