My City Center Solar Carpark, Al Dhait
AMANA Solar was appointed to construct the first solar car park in the Ras Al-Khaimah region for MAF’s My City Center, Al Dhaith. It is one of the first Zero-Injection systems to be connected to FEWA’s (now Etihad WE’s) grid.
The energy generated from the Solar System is consumed on site with “Zero Export to Grid” since RAK is yet to implement Net metering regulations.
The project was in-line with Majid Al Futtaim’s environmental commitment to achieve 5% of its total energy consumption from renewables by 2018 whilst covering 58 parking spaces for all staff and visitors of city center Al-Dhaith.
The plant is expected to generate 4.8 Million kWh throughout is lifetime which is equivalent to avoiding 3,500 Metric Tons of CO2 emmisions.
Walkways installed on the top of the carpark structure allow for easy cleaning and maintenance of the solar panels and erradicates any risk of damaging the equipment.
